Zornits Furniture

Dining tables sized for the room, not the photo

Four sintered stone dining tables, and nothing else on the page to distract you. Every one lists its real length, width and height, because a dining table is the one piece of furniture that either fits the room or ruins it.

Before you choose

Measure the room, then count the seats

Four numbers decide whether a dining table works. These are the standard interior rules of thumb, not claims about any product below. Furniture here is non-returnable, so it is worth five minutes with a tape measure.

Plan view of a dining table with its chairs and clearance, plus a side view of the table and chair heights Looking down on a rectangular dining table. Marker one measures the 24 inches of table edge each place setting needs. Marker two points at an end seat, which only fits if the base leaves the ends clear. Marker three measures the clear floor kept on every side, at least 36 inches. Below, a side view: marker four is the 10 to 12 inch gap between the chair seat and the underside of the tabletop, with the top 29 inches off the floor and the seat 17 to 19 inches. 1 2 3 4 Tabletop end seat 29 in high 17 to 19 in Clear floor, all four sides

Worked example

A 12 by 10 foot dining room

  1. The room is 144 by 120 inches.
  2. Take 36 inches off each side for chairs and walking: 72 inches of length left, 48 inches of width.
  3. A table 71 inches long by 35 wide fits inside that, with room to spare on the width.
  4. 71 divided by 24 is 2 seats down each side. Add one at each end if the base allows, so 4 to 6 people.

That room takes the Maison at 71 inches, or either table at 63 inches if you want the walkway looser.

01 Per person

Give every seat 24 inches of edge

Two feet of table edge per person is the comfortable minimum. On a 63 inch long table that is two chairs down each side. Divide the length by 24 and round down, then do the same for each end if the base leaves room.

02 The base decides the ends

A centre base can cost you two seats

This is the rule people miss. A table on splayed legs at each end seats people at the ends. A single sculpted or X shaped base spreads out where the feet go, so the ends often will not take a chair. It is why the Cavara is rated for 4 at 63 inches while a table the same length on end legs seats 6.

03 Around the table

36 inches of clear floor, all the way round

You need 36 inches from the table edge to the nearest wall or unit to pull a chair out and sit down. Make it 42 to 48 inches where people have to walk behind a seated guest. Add both sides to the table size to get the room size you actually need.

04 Table to seat

10 to 12 inches between seat and top

Every table on this page stands 29 to 29.5 inches high, which is standard. That puts the right chair seat at roughly 17 to 19 inches off the floor. The tops here are 31 to 35.4 inches wide, which is just under the usual 36 to 44, so they suit narrower rooms and leave less room down the middle for serving dishes.

4 tables

The four tables

All four are rectangular sintered stone on a steel base, and all four stand 29 to 29.5 inches high, so the height never changes the decision. What does change it is length, base shape and finish. Pick the leg colour, the tabletop and the length on the card. The price updates as you choose, because on two of these four the length changes what you pay.

Maison Dining Table

Two splayed steel legs, so both ends of the table stay usable. 63 or 71 inches long at 35 wide, or 78 inches long at 31 wide. Sintered stone top, rated to 250 lbs.

Materials and care

What a sintered stone top actually is

The Maison, the Cavara and the Modern Dining Table all specify the same 12mm top. Here is what that actually buys you.

Sintered stone, 12mm

Mineral powder fired under pressure into a slab. It is not a laminate and not a coating, so a scratch has nothing to lift. This is the surface the Maison, the Cavara and the Modern Dining Table all specify.

Hot pans are fine

The top is heat resistant, so a dish straight out of the oven will not mark it. A trivet is still the polite habit, but nothing here warps.

Red wine is fine too

Non porous, so wine, oil and coffee sit on the surface instead of soaking in. A damp cloth is the whole maintenance routine. No sealing, no oiling, no polish.

Carbon steel underneath

Those three bases are carbon steel with an anti rust finish, powder coated on the Cavara. The colour you pick is the finish on the metal, not a wrap.

Rounded edges

The Maison and the Modern Dining Table both use anti collision rounded corners, which is worth knowing if there are small people in the house.

Assembly

The Modern Dining Table quotes about 20 minutes with the hardware in the box. Nothing on this page needs a second trip to the hardware shop.

The base is the decision

A table on legs at each end seats people at the ends. A centre pedestal or an X base does not, whatever the length says. This is the single thing most people get wrong.

It is heavy on purpose

A stone top on steel does not rock when you lean on it. It also means two people to carry it in, and a route planned before it arrives.

Weight ratings

Where the manufacturer publishes one we print it: 250 lbs on the Maison and on the Modern Dining Table. The Cavara and the Linea do not publish one, so we do not print a number for them. Email support@zornits.com and we will get it from the manufacturer before you commit.

Chairs

The chair sets that go with them

Everything above is about the table, because that is the decision that either fits the room or does not. 4 Zornits dining chair sets, from $249.99, sold separately. Each one opens on its own page, where you pick the colour. The manufacturer does not publish seat heights, so we do not claim a pairing.

Delivery and returns

The answers people want first

Straight from the Zornits shipping and refund policies. Nothing here is softened.

Can I return a dining table if it does not fit?

No. Furniture and lighting are non-returnable except in cases of damage or defect. That is exactly why this page opens with a sizing guide and prints every length, width and height we have. Measure the room, add 36 inches on each side, then choose.

How fast will it get here?

Processing takes 24 hours and delivery takes 2 to 3 business days, so most orders arrive within 3 to 4 business days of being placed. A tracking link goes out by SMS or email once it ships. Weather, holidays and carrier delays are the usual exceptions.

Can I cancel if I change my mind?

Yes, with no penalty, within 24 hours of placing the order. Email support@zornits.com with the subject line Cancel. After that window, if it has already shipped, contact us and we will help.

What if it arrives damaged or defective?

Contact support@zornits.com immediately with your order details and photo proof. We arrange a replacement. This applies to every table on this page.

How many chairs will fit?

Allow 24 inches of table edge per person, then check whether the base leaves the ends usable. A 63 inch table on end legs takes six, the same length on a centre base usually takes four. Divide the length by 24 and round down, then add the ends only if the base is clear of them.

Where are the chairs?

In the Chairs section above. Four Zornits chair sets, sold separately, each on its own page where you pick the colour and add it to the cart. They are kept out of the table cards so that the sizing advice is about one decision and not two.

Will a standard chair fit under these?

Every table here stands 29 to 29.5 inches high, which is the standard, so a normal dining chair with a 17 to 19 inch seat clears it. The manufacturer does not publish seat heights for the Zornits chair sets, so we will not guess at the pairing. Email support@zornits.com and we will measure a set for you before you order.

Is shipping free?

Free shipping over $50 is a Zornits+ benefit. The membership is $99.99 a year, billed once, cancel any time. Without it, shipping is calculated at checkout.
