How this is worked out
Add the room length and width in feet and use the total as the diameter in inches. Over a table, pick a light one half to two thirds of the table width. On an 8 ft ceiling the bottom of the light sits 30 to 36 in above the tabletop; add about 3 in for every extra foot of ceiling. Away from a table keep at least 7 ft (84 in) clear underneath.
